Every tooth has a soft tissue deep inside, which is known as pulp. It contains a number of blood vessels, connective tissue and nerves, which help the root of the tooth grow & develop normally.
Endodontic or root canal treatment is performed inside the tooth. Once the pulp gets infected due to the deep cavities or crown issues or cracks in the tooth, it causes pain and may lead to further complications and abscess. In order to treat the inflammation and at the same time preserve the tooth, the doctor will get the pulp out of the tooth, clean and disinfect it from the inside, making sure there’s nothing which may lead to further infection, and then seal the tooth with the special dental rubber material. For further protection the tooth is being covered with the filling (post and core) and later with a dental crown.
You won’t feel any difference in your tooth after its treatment – it will look completely natural and cause absolutely no discomfort. Your biting and chewing abilities won’t change and you will still be able to work on that steak of yours. With regular care treated teeth will last as long as any other and often for a lifetime.
